In total, ClarkDietrich products can help your project qualify for up to:
This credit requirement has an option of using at least 20 different permanently installed products sourced from at least five different manufacturers that meet one of the LEED listed disclosure criteria.
ClarkDietrich has an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) which conform to ISO 14025 and EN 15804 or ISO 21930 and has a cradle to gate scope. More specifically this is a Product-specific Type III EPD. LEED counts products with third-party certification (Type III), including external verification and external critical review are valued as 1.5 products for the purposes of credit achievement calculation.
Use products sourced from at least three different manufacturers that meet at least one of the responsible sourcing and extraction criteria below for at least 15%, by cost, of the total value of permanently installed building products in the project (1 point).
Use products sourced from at least five different manufacturers that meet at least one of the responsible sourcing and extraction criteria below for at least 30%, by cost, of the total value of permanently installed building products in the project (2 points).
For credit achievement calculation, products sourced (extracted, manufactured and purchased) within 100 miles (160 km) of the project site are valued at twice their base contributing cost, up to a maximum of 200% of cost or 2 products.
Use at least 20 different permanently installed products from at least five different manufacturers that use any of the programs listed by LEED to demonstrate the chemical inventory of the product to at least 0.1% (1000 ppm). One of those programs is Health Product Declaration (HPD). The end use product has a published, complete Health Product Declaration with full disclosure of known hazards in compliance with the Health Product Declaration open Standard.
ClarkDietrich has HPDs available with a chemical inventory of the steel product to at least 0.01% (100 ppm).
NOTE: Mill certified steel must be specified when placing your order to receive this credit.
Requirements: Develop and implement a construction and demolition waste management plan and achieve points through waste prevention and/or diversion. ClarkDietrich steel is 100% recyclable and can easily be implemented into any waste management plan.
Follow the Waste Management Plan and divert at least 50% of the total construction and demolition materials from landfills and incineration facilities.
Prevent waste through reuse and source reduction design strategies. Salvage or recycle renovation and demolition debris and utilize waste minimizing design strategies for new construction elements. Track all materials generated by the project from start of construction through project completion to determine the project’s total waste generation. Include all waste and diverted materials in the calculation of total project waste. Exclude hazardous materials and land-clearing debris from calculations.
Path 1. Generate less than 15 lbs./ft2 (75 kg/m2) (1 point)
Path 2. Generate less than 10 lbs./ft2 (50 kg/m2) (2 points)
As part of the Source Reduction Strategy, ClarkDietrich products can be cut to length reducing the amount of waste created by cold-formed steel framing which will contribute to achieving this option.
Volatile Organic Compounds are addressed in the above three credit categories, and the points can be achieved by the LEED project teams in various ways as outlined in each category with the use of inherently nonemitting sources of VOC’s.
ClarkDietrich metallic coated cold-formed steel framing members are inherently nonemitting sources of VOCs and have no binders, surface coatings, or sealants that include organic chemicals.
This credit requirement has an option of using 20 different permanently installed products sourced from at least five different manufacturers that meet special disclosure requirements. ClarkDietrich Building Systems has product specific Type III Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) which conform to ISO 14025, 14040, 14044, and EN 15804 or ISO 21930 and has a cradle to gate scope. We manufacture multiple products that will contribute towards this credit.
An additional exemplary performance point is available here for sourcing at least 40 qualifying products from five manufacturers. (See below: LEED v4 IN Credit: Innovation)
ClarkDietrich provides products and materials for which life cycle information is available. This helps you to select environmentally, economically, and socially preferable products. One LEED point can be obtained using the Recycled Content responsible extraction criteria under Option 2.
We support Supply Chain Transparency and are currently in the process on implementing compliance programs for The California Transparency in Supply Chains Act and for the Dodd-Frank Bill Section 1502, better known as the Conflict Minerals Requirement.
Using ClarkDietrich products can contribute to one LEED point for Material Ingredient Reporting with our published Health Product Declaration (HPD). The HPD program in Option 1 requires the use at least 20 different permanently installed products from at least five different manufacturers with HPDs.
An additional exemplary performance point is available here for sourcing at least 40 qualifying products from five manufacturers. (See below: LEED v4 IN Credit: Innovation)
ClarkDietrich products are manufactured from cold-formed steel. Steel is 100% recyclable. This attribute can help when diverting construction debris from the waste stream. Recycling construction waste contributes to LEED Credits. The specific contribution will vary by project and must be determined by the contractor.
Achieve exemplary performance in an existing LEED v4 prerequisite or credit that allows exemplary performance, as specified in the LEED Reference Guide, v4 edition. An exemplary performance point is typically earned for achieving double the credit requirements or the next incremental percentage threshold.
The deadline to complete and submit v2009 registered projects for LEED certification was June 30, 2021. Contact ClarkDietrich Technical Services at (888) 437-3244 for any questions about LEED points.
